Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (Part-Time) at Pocahontas State Correctional Center to deliver nursing care under supervision, screen sick calls, administer medications, and provide first aid and life support as needed. You will document in the medical record and coordinate with security and treatment staff to support treatment plans.

This wage position is limited to 1,500 hours per agency per year (May 1–April 30) with no state benefits and variable scheduling.

Qualificações

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license.
• Working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of practical or general nursing care.
• Ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals.
• Ability to maintain documentation, provide first aid, and carry out providers’ orders.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and administer nursing care.
• Certified BLS for health care providers through AHA or ARC is required on hire.

Responsabilidades

• Nurses provide evidence-based nursing care utilizing the nursing process under RN direction.
• Screens for sick call, administers medications, and provides first aid and basic life support.
• Maintains open lines of communication with security and treatment staff to support treatment plans.
• Records all pertinent information into the medical record.
• Interacts with other departments as needed.
• Promotes continued competence through education/certification in correctional nursing.
• Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet needs.
