Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for a part-time role at Lawrenceville Correctional Center. The LPN will provide evidence-based nursing care, administer medications, and assist in treatment planning under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license or multi-state compact license.
• Working knowledge of practical or general nursing care principles and techniques.
• Ability to screen complaints and refer cases to medical staff.
• Ability to document, provide first aid, and follow providers' orders.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based nursing care under RN direction.
• Screen sick calls, administer medications, and provide first aid.
• Maintain open communication with security and treatment staff.
• Record pertinent information in the medical record.
• Be prepared to work hours, days, and locations as assigned; cover as needed.
