Job summary

Dept of Corrections - Dillwyn Center is seeking an LPN (PRN) to deliver nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes triage of sick calls, medication administration, and basic life support within a correctional setting.

Applicants must hold a Virginia LPN license and BLS certification, with flexibility to cover varying hours, days, and locations. This wage position has no state benefits and is limited to 1,500 hours per year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with valid Virginia LPN license.
• Knowledge of practical/general nursing care principles and techniques.
• Ability to screen complaints and refer to medical staff as needed.
• Documentation skills and ability to carry out provider orders.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and provide nursing care.
• BLS certification required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based nursing care under RN direction.
• Screen sick calls, administer medications, and provide first aid.
• Maintain medical records and communicate with security and treatment staff.
• Promote ongoing nursing education and competency in corrections.
• Cover shifts and locations as assigned to meet facility needs.
