Job summary

Tacoma Arts Live is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with 45 years of arts programming and a commitment to diverse communities. We seek an Event Staff to support event operations and volunteer management across the Tacoma Armory and offsite venues.

This part-time role typically offers 10–20 hours per week, with shifts often in evenings and on weekends. Overtime eligibility applies after 40 hours in a Mon-Sun week; pay is $20–$21 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 or older.
• WA State Food Handler’s Card, WA State Class 12 alcohol server permit, and CPR certification card, OR ability to obtain them at employer's expense.
• Familiar with point-of-sale systems such as Square preferred.
• At least one year of event management and supervisory experience.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.
• Able to work weekends, evenings, and on-call basis.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead event staff for Tacoma Arts Live events held at the Tacoma Armory or offsite.
• Coordinate with Operations Team and other Event Team members on day-of tasks and details.
• Greet facility users and handle inquiries, requests and dispute resolution.
• Lead volunteers and act as liaison between staff and Volunteers on event day.
• Open/close as opening/closing person in charge, including setup/teardown and paperwork.
• Observe and enforce Front of House policies and safety regulations.
• Manage concessions area setup, stocking, and POS operation when needed.
• Serve alcoholic beverages to patrons according to WA policy when needed.
• Attend all Staff, Front of House, and other event trainings and meetings.
