Job summary

The Lifeguard at Foundation YMCA of Wilson in Wilson, NC, works part-time to ensure the safety of all patrons around the aquatic facility. The role requires vigilance, strong communication, and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Strong observational and communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm and act quickly in emergencies.
• Prior lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons in and around the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. This role supports the YMCA's commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members and guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Monitor pool activities and enforce all safety rules and regulations.
• Respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations.
• Administer first aid, CPR, or AED as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of pool deck and surrounding areas.
• Inspect and ensure proper functioning of safety equipment.
• Participate in regular in-service training and emergency drills.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude.
• Complete incident and accident reports accurately and promptly.
• Assist with pool opening and closing procedures.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.
