Job summary

Fitchburg State University Library is seeking a student employee for the Fall 2026 semester. This part-time, non-benefited position supports frontline service at the service desk, checks materials in and out, assists with course reserves, and helps patrons search the library catalog.

You will provide technology assistance (printers, scanners, wifi), help with shelving and stacks, and assist with opening/closing duties and data entry tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet patrons at the service desk.
• Answer informational, directional and service questions in-person, by phone, and via chat.
• Assist patrons with library catalog searches; refer to staff as needed.
• Check out and return materials; create study room reservations.
• Provide technology assistance (printers, scanners, wifi, etc.).
• Load book carts, shelve items, and maintain stacks order.
• Assist with course reserves, interlibrary loan and scanning.
• Open and close the library; participate in user experience surveys and data entry.
