Job summary

Bridgewater State University is seeking a Work Study Library Student for Maxwell Library. The role involves front-desk customer service, shelving and shelf-reading tasks, and assisting patrons with holds and cataloged items. You will use the library system to check items in and out and help maintain orderly stacks.

Eligibility requires a minimum six credits for Fall 2026 and a Work Study award. Prior experience in customer service is preferred, with a focus on reliable, friendly, and accurate

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student enrolled for at least six credits for Fall 2026 term.
• Must have Work Study award in financial aid package.
• Prior experience in a customer service environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service at the Access Services Desk.
• Answer patron questions and direct patrons to the appropriate library staff member.
• Shelve books and other library materials; shelf read books and tidy stacks.
• Retrieve holds from the stacks and assist patrons with retrieving books.
• Use the library database to check books in and out.
• Perform daily patron counts throughout the library.
• Other duties as assigned.
