Job summary

Kansas City, Kansas Public Library is seeking a Part-Time Library Associate to join our public service team. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service at public service desks, assisting with circulation, programming, and collection maintenance.

Schedule includes Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays with a mix of afternoon and evening hours. A high school diploma is required, with weekend availability and a background check. Compensation ranges from $20.30 to $23.21 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a library, bookstore, or public service setting preferred.
• Must pass a background check; ability to work evenings and weekends; own transportation for outreach.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service at public service desks and by phone.
• Register new patrons and orient them to library technology.
• Shelve materials and perform collection maintenance including weeding and shelf reading.
• Maintain tidy displays and organized shelves.
• Provide basic reader’s advisory and informational services.
• Support in-house programs and outreach activities.
• Create promotional materials for programs and displays.
• Assist with other library operations as assigned.
