Job summary

Raynham Public Library in Raynham is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to join our staff. This 19-hour-per-week, non-union, nonbenefited position combines day and night shifts with a Saturday rotation every three weeks. Saturday hours are 10-4.

This position reports to the Circulation Supervisor. The role primarily serves adults at the Main Desk and requires strong customer service, basic computer skills, and the ability to help patrons locate materials and use digital resources.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and written/verbal communication with patrons.
• Intermediate computer skills; familiarity with Windows 11 and cloud tools.
• Experience with WordPress, Canva, and Meta Business Suite is a plus.
• Ability to multitask and handle interruptions while maintaining accuracy.
• Maintain patron privacy and confidentiality of records.
• Hours may change; schedule includes day, evening, and Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Performs library circulation tasks at the Main Desk: check in/out, renewals, holds, issue library cards, and related functions.
• Assists patrons in locating materials and using the library catalog.
• Creates social media posts and other promotional material.
• Handles technical services duties such as processing materials and copy cataloging.
• Assists patrons with technology and digital resources across devices.
• Shelves materials, maintains shelf order, and weeds as needed.
• Answers the phone and provides friendly service to the public.
• Other duties as assigned by the Circulation Supervisor.
