Job summary

Clark Public Library in Clark, NJ is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support circulation, answer phones, and assist patrons. This role requires flexibility, weekend rotation, and a 20-hour workweek with shifts between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office. Customer service experience in a library or similar setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Open to New Jersey residents only.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Circulation desk service to visitors of all ages (greet, check-in, check-out, registration, etc.).
• Answer phones and forward calls to appropriate recipients as needed.
• Assist patrons with general directional questions within the library.
• Shelf materials alphabetically and by Dewey Decimal; check shelves for proper filing.
• Prepare library materials for circulation/use.
• Assist patrons with photocopiers and printers as needed.
• Enforce policy and exercise judgment in public service Situations.
