Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a lecturer for the 2026-27 spring semester to teach LIS 407, LIS 472, LIS 635, and LIS 678. This fixed-term, part-time lecturer role involves delivering in-person classes, preparing syllabi with iSchool staff, and providing timely feedback to students.

An initial TA support of 20 hours weekly is available, with classes in Madison. The appointment runs December 31, 2026 to May 16, 2027, with specific times and cohorts described for each course.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated teaching experience in LIS courses and classroom delivery.
• Ability to develop and update course syllabi with iSchool staff.
• Knowledge of teaching methods for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Experience delivering instruction in a classroom, online or hybrid setting.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
• Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
• Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
• Update or prepare a syllabus in consultation with iSchool staff
• Deliver in-person lectures and lead class sessions
• Create or update course materials as needed, in consultation with iSchool staff
• Provide timely feedback and grading of assignments, projects, and assessments
• One Teaching Assistant will provide 20 hours per week of support
• Support students via synchronous office hours and communications such as email and/or Teams
