Job summary

Community Housing Partners (CHP) is seeking a customer-focused Part-Time Leasing Consultant to support leasing and resident services at one of our affordable housing communities in Galax, VA.

You will guide applicants through the leasing process, maintain resident records, and collaborate with the Property Manager and maintenance team to keep the community running smoothly. Past property management or leasing experience is helpful.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Property management, leasing, housing, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn Fair Housing and affordable housing program requirements.
  • Ability to obtain Fair Housing certification within the established timeframe.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist prospective and current residents in person, by phone, and electronically.
  • Conduct property tours and explain lease terms, eligibility, and community rules.
  • Support lease renewals and resident retention.
  • Process and track rental applications and waiting lists; verify income and documentation.
  • Prepare leases and move-in paperwork; coordinate unit readiness and occupancy.
  • Assist with move-in/move-out inspections and maintain audit-ready files.
  • Follow Fair Housing regulations and escalate complex questions.
