Job summary

The City of Long Beach is seeking two part-time Library Aide (Non-Career) – Learning Guide positions for the Family Learning Centers. You will help students, assist with resources, and support learning programs at two city libraries.

Ideal candidates communicate well, can type 20 wpm, lift up to 40 pounds, and work three shifts weekly including Saturdays. Prior library experience is a plus, and bilingual English/Spanish is desirable.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
• Typing at least 20 net words per minute.
• Willingness to work part-time and irregular schedules, including weekends.
• Lift up to 40 pounds and maneuver book trucks.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with homework and skill development.
• Assist patrons with job search skills and resumes.
• Answer general inquiries and help with public computers.
• Prepare and maintain program paperwork and reports.
