Mecklenburg County is hiring for a part-time, on-site WIC lactation counselor. The role includes counseling pregnant and new mothers, providing education, scheduling visits, and maintaining accurate records. You will document health histories, monitor breast feeding supplies, and make referrals as needed, with some after-hours availability as required.

The position emphasizes compassionate patient education and coordination within the WIC program to support family health in a community setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of directly related experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Satisfactory completion of state approved Lactation Peer Counseling Training (post hire).
• May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License.

Responsabilités

• Provide lactation education, counseling, support and follow-up with clients.
• Schedule appointments, coordinate intakes and transfers, and document chart data.
• Record anthropometric measures and health history accurately.
• Counsel pregnant and/or breastfeeding clients and provide referrals as needed.
• Maintain documentation of equipment and supplies issued; update records.
