The role supports breastfeeding initiation, offers practical support, leads classes and groups, coordinates referrals, and partners with nutritionists while maintaining ongoing contact with clients.

Qualifications

• Personal breastfeeding experience required (at least one baby).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• WIC participation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote breastfeeding and provide basic information.
• Maintain contact with pregnant participants to encourage initiation.
• Lead classes and support groups for breastfeeding participants.
• Provide referrals to lactation consultants and health professionals.
• Attend community events to promote the program.
