Job summary

Cornerstone Counseling Center of Chicago is seeking an Intake Coordinator to conduct initial assessments and match clients to clinicians based on clinical needs. This part-time role requires planning, strong communication, and empathy to deliver excellent client care.

You will handle client registration, insurance verification, referrals, and collaboration with the Clinical Director, while supporting training of new staff and partnerships with community organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; healthcare or related field preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills essential.
• Experience in a healthcare setting and health insurance familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Register new clients and guide them through the intake process by phone.
• Record client information accurately and assess needs to assign to clinicians.
• Provide referrals and respond to web intakes within 24 hours.
• Create patient portals and support clients with setup.
• Verify insurance benefits and discuss billing options.
• Maintain manuals as insurance rules change.
• Lead weekly intake meetings and support CAP initiatives.
• Train new staff and summer interns.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Intake Coordinator conducts initial assessments of potential clients and determines the need for care. The Intake Coordinator is responsible for correctly matching clients based on clinical needs. This position requires skill in planning and organizing, strong verbal and written communication, and empathy to provide excellent client care. This role reports to the Clinical Director.

Client Registration and Intake

• Register new clients and walk them through the intake process by phone.
• Accurately record client information, access client needs and assign to the appropriate clinician.
• Provide referrals to individuals as needed, researching options as needed.
• Respond to web intakes within 24 hours.
• Create patient portals for new clients and assist clients with the process as needed.

Client Insurance Verification

• Verify potential client insurance benefits and review this with the potential client.
• Coordinate and confirm alternative billing methods and program eligibility.
• Update manuals as insurance rules change.

Leadership

• Leads a weekly intake meeting and provides updates.
• Drives the Client Access Program (CAP).
• Point person with community partnerships for new clients.
• Assists in training new staff and yearly interns.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Training will be provided on practice EMR systems.
• Experience working in a healthcare environment or experience with health insurance.
• This is a part-time position
