Job summary

Oregon Coast Community Action is seeking a Classroom Assistant in Coos Bay, OR, to support Head Start services. Responsibilities include assisting the teaching team, promoting child development, and maintaining safe, engaging classroom environments.

Part-time, seasonal role with pay starting at $15.20 hourly, DOE. Applicants should have an Infant/Toddler CDA credential or be enrolled in a CDA program, and may pursue Preschool CDA as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Infant/Toddler CDA credential required or enrolled in CDA.
• Oregon Registry Step 7 or higher.
• Enrolled in Infant/Toddler CDA credential or related pathway to CDA within 2 years.
• Preschool CDA credential preferred in preschool pathways.
• High school diploma or equivalent; CDA/AA program enrollment expected within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Promote children’s growth and development with responsive care and organized learning.
• Clean, sanitize and disinfect classrooms, equipment, and materials.
• Use The Creative Curriculum to provide quality, developmentally appropriate experiences.
• Use positive guidance to support social-emotional and behavioral health.
• Follow Health & Safety policies including handwashing, toileting, and medication storage.
• Provide family-style meals with supervision and encourage parent participation.
• Maintain appropriate ratios and ensure child safety at all times.
