Job summary

Oregon Child Development Coalition is seeking a versatile assistant role at our Head Start center in Oregon. The position supports classroom activities, daily operations, and visitor management while ensuring safety and developmental appropriateness for children.

The role includes assisting teachers, supporting bus and meal services, and handling basic clerical tasks. Candidates should have relevant entry‑level experience and a commitment to child development and family support services.

Qualifications

• Six months experience working with young children, cooking in a restaurant, or cleaning in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors in person or on the telephone and direct inquiries.
• Notify center personnel of visitor arrivals and issue badges.
• Enter data, complete reports, file and retrieve information.
• Assist the teacher with child-directed and teacher-directed activities.
• Provide healthy and safe activities developmentally appropriate for children.
• Maintain records and assist with classroom custodial duties.
• Supervise playgrounds, assist with sick room duties as directed.
• Assist bus driver to ensure safe transportation and proper seating.
• Prepare healthful meals and snacks and maintain kitchen and storage areas.
• Perform center custodial duties including laundry and maintenance.
• Communicate positively with staff, parents, and children; participate in meetings and trainings.
