Alliance for Living is seeking a Part-Time R2 Navigator to provide outreach, education, and connections to care for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use, plus support for those reentering society under the R2 Program. The role is grant-funded and 20 hours per week with no benefits.

You will work with the CARES team in New London County to connect clients to services and housing, legal, and health supports.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge and practice of Harm Reduction and the ability to connect with the people we serve in a non-judgmental, compassionate way.
• Extensive knowledge of local support services and resources.
• Ability to be outside and mobile to conduct outreach and participate in community events.
• Understanding of or strong desire to learn mental health diagnoses, treatment and support.
• Understanding of or strong desire to learn about substance use and substance use disorder, medication, and support.
• Understanding of or strong desire to learn the needs of individuals returning from incarceration.

Responsabilités

• Operates within the Harm Reduction model.
• Conducts community outreach about mental health, substance use disorder, and treatment options.
• Engages in conversations with people concerning their mental health and substance use.
• Explores treatment options with participants based on their desired goals.
• Facilitates timely referrals and placements with treatment and support providers.
• Connects participants to the larger community of care.
• Educates and assists community members regarding mental health, trauma, and substance use disorder.
• Provides support for individuals returning from incarceration, including housing, employment, legal, and mental health service as part of the R2 Program.
• Participates in ongoing training and education.
• Maintains records of engagements.
• Other duties as assigned.
