Job summary

Alliance for Living Inc. in New London is seeking a Part-Time R2 Navigator to provide outreach, education, and connections to care for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use, including support for those returning from incarceration as part of the R2 program.

This grant-funded role is 20 hours per week, non-benefit eligible, and reports to the Director of Navigators for New London County CARES.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge and practice of Harm Reduction and ability to connect with diverse people.
• Extensive knowledge of local support services and resources.
• Ability to be outdoors and mobile for outreach and events.
• Understanding of mental health and substance use needs; willingness to learn.
• Strong communication and time management in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to honor confidentiality and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operates within the Harm Reduction model.
• Conducts community outreach about mental health and substance use; engages diverse locations.
• Engages in conversations about mental health and substance use with participants.
• Explores treatment options based on participant goals and preferences.
• Facilitates referrals to treatment and support providers; connects to care networks.
• Supports participants returning from incarceration through housing, employment, and mental health services.
• Maintains records of engagements and participates in ongoing training.
• Other duties as assigned.
