Job summary

Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking a Part-Time Groundskeeper to maintain campus grounds and assist with landscaping projects on the Montgomery, Alabama campus. The role involves operating lawn and landscape equipment and helping with installation of landscaping features.

The successful candidate will perform routine groundskeeping tasks, maintain tools and equipment, and assist in keeping athletic fields and outdoor areas in good condition. This is a part-time on-site position on campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in groundskeeping preferred.

The Campus Services Department invites applications for a Part-TimeGroundskeeper. This position provides maintenance of universitygrounds and landscaper installation.

Responsibilities

The qualified candidate selected for this position may beresponsible for the following duties:

• Maintains University grounds using edger, blower, rake, shovel,trimmer, mower, and other equipment.


• Maintains equipment such as hand tools, including picks,shovels, and rakes; power equipment, including chain saws, edger,weed eaters, fork-lifts, push and riding mowers, backhoes and fieldpainters.


• Installs landscaping and related items on Universitygrounds,


• May operate motorized street sweeping and cleaning equipment tokeep University streets and parking lots free of dirt, leaves andother debris.


• May maintain athletic fields.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion.Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise,dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., with one often to the point of beingobjectionable. Injuries may require professional treatment.


• Work schedules, volume of work, or priorities seldom change;able to anticipate new work; minimum distractions or interruptions;seldom involves conflicting demands on time.


• Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching,stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, hearing, handling objectswith hands, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Job occasionally requiressitting, climbing or balancing, talking, and lifting up to 100pounds.

Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upondepartmental needs. Other duties may be assigned similar to theabove consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities requiredfor the job.
