Job summary

The Ivy Hotel in Baltimore is seeking a Front of House Server with the ability to perform as Server and Server Support while upholding upscale service standards. You will be expected to maintain guest relations, understand the wine list, and act as a brand ambassador for The Ivy / Magdalena.

Responsibilities

• Ensure service is professional and in line with the Director of Food & Beverage standards.
• Communicate effectively across restaurant classifications and hotel departments.
• Follow company policy, vision, and departmental objectives.
• Be fully conversant with all hotel products and services.
• Establish and maintain good relationships with guests and handle requests and inquiries.
• Be knowledgeable about each dish and provide explanations as requested.
• Understand the wine list and be able to sell and serve wines and champagnes.
• Act as a brand ambassador for The Ivy / Magdalena and uphold values in all contacts.
• Meet guests' wishes where reasonably possible.
• Ensure guests are addressed by their name and title; collect feedback for improvements.
• Contribute to risk assessments and health & safety reporting; monitor issues.
• Maintain safety practices and guide staff on safety; know fire and safety procedures.
• Support colleagues at peak times and undertake other duties as requested by leadership.
• Punctually report for duty in full uniform according to grooming standards.
