Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) is hiring a part-time Financial Assistance Advisor for the Outpatient Services – Newark location. The role focuses on patient registration, insurance verification, and financial counseling to support treatment access.

The position entails on-site work, 20 hours per week, with a standard work shift during the business day. This role emphasizes revenue cycle data entry and accurate documentation for Medicaid/self-pay assessments.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of progressive clerical experience, one year in a physician’s office, hospital billing office or insurance company involved in billing/collection or medical insurance activities.

Responsibilities

• Interviews the patient and/or relatives and assists in completing all required registration forms.
• Obtains necessary demographic and financial information prior to treatment.
• Obtains copies of the customer’s insurance cards and identification prior to treatment.
• Enteres completed insurance data into revenue cycle system.
