Job summary

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) in Newark, NJ seeks a part-time Financial Assistance Advisor for Outpatient Services. The role registers patients, forwards packages, assesses Charity Care eligibility, and enters insurance data in the revenue cycle system.

Working 20 hours per week on-site, you will support the UBHC Outpatient Programs under the Office Manager, with emphasis on accurate documentation, HIPAA compliance, and obtaining complete Medical Records.

Qualifications

• Two (2) to three (3) years of progressively more responsible clerical experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a physician's office, hospital billing office or insurance company which involved billing and collection or medical insurance activities.
• Prior experience functioning in a computerized environment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and registers patients into the revenue cycle system.
• Forwards patients' registration packages to Clinical Records to achieve a complete Medical Records folder.
• Determines customer's eligibility for the Charity Care program as set forth by NJ Department of Health N.J.A.C. 8:31B-4.37 and UBHC policy.
• Enters completed insurance data into revenue cycle system.
• Completes requirement tracking when a client is initially registered and/or routinely updated.
• Documents the type of registration, client's benefits information, HIPAA restriction and action taken on the account.
