Job summary

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) in Newark seeks a part-time Financial Assistance Advisor to handle the registration processes for outpatient programs. The role requires 2–3 years of clerical experience, including at least 1 year in medical billing or related billing activities.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of progressively responsible clerical experience, one year in medical billing activities.

Responsibilities

• Interviews the patient and/or relatives and assists in completing all required registration forms.
• Obtains necessary demographic and financial information prior to treatment.
• Obtains copies of the patient’s insurance cards and identification prior to treatment.
• Reviews patient insurance information that was verified prior to patients’ appointments.
• Forwards patients’ registration packages to Clinical Records to achieve a complete Medical Records folder.
• Reviews the online Medicaid site for self-pay patients to determine Medicaid eligibility.
• Enters completed insurance data into revenue cycle system.
• Completes requirement tracking when a client is registered or routinely updated.
