Job summary

New River Community College is seeking a part-time Financial Aid Assistant to support the Financial Aid and Advising Office in counseling students and families through FAFSA completion and verification. The role requires strong customer service and organizational skills, with frequent contact via phone, email, and in-person interactions.

This position operates in Pulaski, offering Monday-Friday scheduling with a pay rate of $15 per hour.

Qualifications

Significant work experience in an office setting with demonstrated knowledge of effective office practices.
Good organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and computer skills.
Ability to interact with other personnel in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty/staff, and the public.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

Perform office support functions for the Financial Aid and Advising Office using initiative and good judgment while handling matters in a professional, efficient, and timely manner.
Assist students and families with the FAFSA completion and verification process.
Interact with students, potential students, NRCC personnel and the public via telephone, email, virtual meetings, and in-person communication.
Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Financial Aid Manager.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
