Job summary

The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey seeks a part-time navigator to assist Trenton-area families with paid leave benefits, applications, and access to services. The role focuses on connecting families to state programs and coordinating with CHS NJ staff and partners.

Ideal candidates have strong knowledge of local resources, willingness to contribute to training materials, and ability to communicate via text, phone, and video calls. Remote work may be possible based on needs.

Qualifications

• Must have strong knowledge of Trenton community resources, support services, and benefits programs for families.
• Willing to participate in developing navigator training materials and processes.
• Must be willing to send and receive text messages, make and receive phone calls, and participate in video conferencing.
• Preferred qualifications: lived experience with paid family leave programs in NJ; reside in the Trenton area; bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating paid family leave benefits programs, including education on TDI/FLI and helping complete applications.
• Support parents before, during, and after childbirth, in coordinating with CHS NJ staff and partners.
• Support group-based programming and family engagement activities, in person or virtually.
• Establish and maintain connections with DOL claims examiners and other community members.
• Support CHS NJ staff and evaluation teams in tracking and documenting access to services.
• Follow outreach and application process guidelines to advance referrals to linkages and application completion.
• Serve a minimum of 2-3 clients per week.
