Job summary

Children’s Nebraska is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to manage patient flow by completing registrations, check-ins, and scheduling across the ED, inpatient units, Radiology, and related departments.

You will guide patients in enrolling in digital platforms, coordinate with clinical teams, and ensure a smooth, compliant experience from admission to discharge, contributing to high patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Customer service experience preferred.
Experience in patient registration, healthcare administration, or similar role preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform full patient registrations in the hospital’s EHR system, verifying demographics and insurance information.
Ensure accurate and complete registration documents are obtained, meeting hospital and regulatory standards.
Collect patient co-pays and other payment information as applicable.
Manage registration tasks, including In Basket messages and work queues (WQs).
Conduct patient check-ins and check-outs and provide appointment details and discharge instructions.
Coordinate point-of-care scheduling with clinical teams for follow-up appointments and procedures.
Act as liaison between clinical departments, ED, and Radiology to support patient flow.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and document all interactions in the EHR.
