Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge is seeking a dependable Kitchen Support Technician for part-time evening shifts. The role includes dishwashing, sanitation, meal prep help, and assisting volunteers to ensure a complete, welcoming dinner for neighbors in need.

Reporting to Food Services leadership, you’ll work with staff and volunteers to maintain a clean, safe kitchen and dining area, handling routine duties and safety procedures after hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in dishwashing, janitorial, warehouse, or food-service is preferred but not required; training available.
• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures.
• Willingness to obtain ServSafe Food Handler Certification after hire if not already certified.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary evening support for dinner meal operations.
• Assist volunteers with meal prep and service; step in when staff are unavailable.
• Prepare additional food as directed to meet portions and menu needs.
• Help adjust meal quantities to minimize waste and shortages.
• Set up serving line, restock items, and assist with cleanup and supplies.
• Operate the commercial dishwasher safely and keep areas sanitary.
• Report equipment issues, shortages, or safety concerns to leadership.
• Create a calm, welcoming environment for neighbors, volunteers, and staff.
