Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin County is seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The role supports daily kitchen operations, dishwashing, food prep, cleaning, and volunteer coordination, with shifts Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7am to 1:30pm (≈26 hours weekly).

Ideal candidates are entry-level or with basic kitchen experience; training will be provided. This position emphasizes safety, sanitation, teamwork, and reliable performance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates welcomed; prior kitchen, janitorial, or food service experience is useful but not required.
• Food Handler Card or ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physical labor in a busy kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Support daily kitchen operations by performing dishwashing, food preparation, cleaning and organizing.
• Assist with meal service, basic cooking support and volunteer coordination.
• Maintain pantry, walk-in, and storage areas and ensure sanitary conditions.
