Job summary

Catholic Charities Boston is seeking a part-time ESOL Teacher to deliver English instruction and provide academic advising to adult immigrant learners. Classes run 28 hours weekly across a 36-week academic year, with a schedule including Tuesday–Friday blocks and afternoon/evening sessions.

The role involves curriculum development, assessment, student support, and adherence to program and grant requirements.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in education or related field, or teaching certification and commensurate work experience; master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Teach ESOL to adult students; levels/industry focus vary by class/program.
Conduct initial and ongoing assessment of students using BEST and TABE Class-E.
Participate in staff development and professional learning.
Integrate technology and digital literacy in the curriculum.
Provide classroom instruction and educational advising.
Develop daily lesson plans aligned with best practices.
Maintain student records in agency reporting tools.
Facilitate access to additional programs and support services.
Incorporate student feedback into courses and staff development.
Comply with funder requirements and DESE standards.
Work in classroom/office with computers and equipment; may stand or sit for long periods.
Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Attend meetings and trainings as required.
Travel locally as needed.
