Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking an ESOL Instructor and advisor for the Education & Training Center in Boston. This part-time role involves delivering high-quality instruction to adult learners and advising them to meet personal and professional goals.

You will conduct lessons 32 weeks from Sep 2026–May 2027, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 6:30–8:00 PM, totaling about 15 hours per week including prep and meetings. Proficiency in MS Office and Google Classroom is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or educational background preferred.
• TESOL/TEFL/TESL certification required.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Google Classroom.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• Strong sensitivity to socio-economic and ethnic minority issues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ESOL instruction to adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Create engaging, contextually relevant lesson plans integrating language and life skills.
• Maintain an inclusive, safe classroom atmosphere enabling active participation.
• Present clear objectives for each session and monitor progress through assessments.
• Provide ongoing support to help students stay on track academically and personally.
• Track student progress and communicate concerns to the Program Manager.
• Maintain attendance records and submit them on time.
• Upload course materials to Google Classroom for student access.
