Job summary

VEG seeks a part-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced team. You will welcome patients, assist with treatments, and support veterinarians and techs during triage and procedures, contributing to a compassionate, high‑quality ER experience for pets and their families.

Ideal candidates have hands-on veterinary experience, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn through guided pathways and on‑the‑job training. Nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR understanding.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and meds.
