Job summary

VEG is seeking a part-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support the team in a fast-paced emergency hospital. You will triage patients, assist with treatments, and learn anesthesia and other procedures under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, some veterinary/EMR experience, and a passion for compassionate patient care. Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software/EMR.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics from bloodwork to imaging.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with credentialed staff.
• Assist during all moments of care in outpatient or inpatient areas.
• Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER certification with training provided.
• Grow into advanced responsibilities through guided training.
