Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be at the heart of our hospital team. You will support your crew, comfort pet parents, and learn on the job across triage, treatments, and monitoring in real time.

You will work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians to assist with anesthesia, diagnostics, and patient care. This role emphasizes growth through structured training pathways and flexible scheduling to fit hospital needs.

Qualifications

• Empathy and patient-centric approach in fast-paced ER settings.
• Strong communication with pet parents and team members.
• Willingness to learn and grow through training pathways.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy shifts.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, guiding them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Support anesthesia and sedation setups with the team.
• Set up IV fluids, transfusions, and medication administration.
• Participate in all care moments from exam room to treatment area.
• Join rounds to maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER certification (training provided).
• Progress to more advanced tasks through guided training.
