Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time patient care support role in the Emergency Department. The incumbent will assist physicians and nurses with patient care, perform phlebotomy, transport patients, monitor vital signs, and support documentation in the EHR.

The position requires strong communication skills and teamwork within a fast-paced setting. Qualifications include a High School Diploma, about 1 year of healthcare experience, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Typically 1 year experience in a healthcare setting.
• Proficient with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and basic computer skills.
• Maintains certifications and ongoing education as required by regulation and organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses with patient care tasks (phlebotomy, transport, monitors, wound care, Foley catheter care) and IV starts where allowed by state rules.
• Document procedures and communicate observations to the registered nurse.
• Process daily patient charges and related procedures in the EHR.
• Coordinate communications to support patient care across phone, paging, electronic and EMS systems.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with safety policies.
