Job summary

Armed Services YMCA of Alaska is seeking an Early Learning Teacher’s Assistant in Alaska for a part-time, hourly position. The role supports the Education Director in delivering quality early childhood education and care while ensuring compliance with program standards.

The assistant helps implement daily activities, maintains a safe and engaging classroom, and communicates with families. Training and background checks are required; a valid driver's license is needed for certain duties and

Qualifications

Must successfully complete all required training and certification in accordance with ASYMCA and DOD guidelines.
Must pass all background checks including Installation Record Check, State Check, Fingerprint, CNACI.
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Hiring is on a trial basis for 6 months and then re-evaluated based on requirements being met.
Oversees compliance with state regulations and DOD standards as part of program operations.

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher in implementing daily schedule and curriculum with attention to health, safety, and cleanliness.
Maintain nurturing interactions with children and support their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
Maintain open parent communications and participate in meetings as needed.
Assist with field trips, outdoor activities, and special events as scheduled.
Lead by example to promote positive behavior and a cooperative classroom environment.
Monitor supplies and maintenance requests and report safety concerns to the teacher.
