Job summary

Fry Family YMCA is seeking a part-time Teacher Assistant to support the Lead Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 2-5. You will assist with planning, supervision, and creating a positive classroom climate while adhering to DCFS, ExceleRate Illinois, NAEYC, and local standards.

The role focuses on instructional support, assessment, and family communication, with opportunities for ongoing training and growth within the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago network.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for ages 2-5.
• Ability to plan and support lesson activities with guidance from Lead Teacher.
• Strong communication with parents and families and collaboration with classroom team.

Responsibilities

• Promote high-quality teaching and learning in the classroom.
• Model culturally and linguistically appropriate practices.
• Support partnerships with parents and families and encourage involvement.
• Assist with data collection and use to inform instruction and child-centered learning.
• Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation with the Lead Teacher.
