Job summary

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) seeks a Part-Time Direct Support Professional to assist adults with serious mental illness in our Residential Behavioral Health Program. You will provide compassionate care, reinforce daily living skills, and support recovery in a structured residence.

Responsibilities include supervision, medication reminders, documentation, and collaboration with clinicians to promote safety and independence for residents on their recovery journeys.

Qualifications

• At least one year of direct support experience with adults who have serious mental illness or behavioral health needs.
• Valid Virginia driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work independently, and function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to person-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and support in a residential behavioral health setting.
• Assist residents with daily living activities, medication reminders, meal preparation, and household routines.
• Encourage skill development to promote independence.
• Monitor residents' behaviors and emotional well-being, reporting changes to the treatment team.
• Support participation in appointments, recreational activities, and community-based services.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation per agency policies.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, recovery-oriented environment while protecting client confidentiality.
• Collaborate with supervisors, clinicians, and other team members to ensure quality care.
