Job summary

Barber National Institute in Pittsburgh is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide part-time residential support. Shifts include 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) and limited 3rd shift (11:00 PM – 9:00 AM), with weekends and holidays; about 28 hours per week.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living, promoting independence, and coordinating transportation. Training is provided; benefits and a sign-on bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• Age 18 or older required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Pre-hire Clearances: State Police Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance (if you have not lived in PA for the past 2 years).
• Ability to pass Medication Administration and CPR/First Aid Certification
• Access to a personal mobile device for work communication.

Responsibilities

• Support daily living needs including personal hygiene, meals, and medication management.
• Assist individuals in becoming active members in their community through activities, hobbies, and social events.
• Provide transportation to work, appointments, or social gatherings.
• Advocate for individuals' choices and ensure they have a voice in personal care decisions.
• Collaborate with caregivers, families, and medical professionals to provide holistic, person-centered care.
