Job summary

Barber National Institute seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals for part-time residential roles in Philadelphia, PA. Evening and night shifts (2nd and 3rd) with weekend/holiday hours, about 28 hours weekly, no prior experience required as comprehensive training is provided.

You will support individuals with daily living activities, transportation, social engagement, and person-centered care, collaborating with families and professionals to promote dignity and independence.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Pre-hire Clearances: State Police Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance (if you have not lived in PA for the past 2 years).
• Ability to pass Medication Administration and CPR/First Aid Certification

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with daily living needs, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Assist individuals in becoming active members in their community, including activities, hobbies, and social events.
• Responsible for transportation to work, appointments, or social gatherings.
• Advocating for individuals' choices and ensuring they have a voice in their personal care and decisions.
• Celebrating successes and milestones, big or small, and providing emotional support when challenges arise.
• Helping with housekeeping tasks to maintain a comfortable, welcoming home environment.
• Collaborating with a team of caregivers, families, and medical professionals to provide holistic, person-centered care.
