Job summary

Military Deli & Bakery Services is seeking an Assistant Manager for a part-time role at a commissary location. You will lead a deli/bakery team, ensure top customer service, and help meet food safety standards while supporting inventory management and scheduling.

The position requires 2+ years in grocery or food service, prior leadership, and the ability to work weekends and various shifts. A valid Food Safety Management Certification is required or obtainable within 30 days.

Qualifications

• 2+ years grocery or 2+ years food service experience
• Previous shift lead/management experience mandatory
• Ability to stand and walk short distances for an entire shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation
• Open availability, must be able to work some weekends and closing shifts
• Must have a valid Food Safety Management Certification or be able to obtain one within 30 days from the hire date
• Must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Assist Deli/Bakery Manager in leadership directing and managing 5-10 employees.
• Maintain high levels of customer service while meeting commissary requirements and maximizing profits.
• Oversee and enforce Food Safety and Sanitation policies and procedures.
• Help manage inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering raw materials.
• Assist in scheduling and training employees and delegating work assignments.
• Prepare, maintain, and track records concerning inventories and work processes to calculate monthly profit.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
• Develop and maintain professional communication with commissary management.
• Monitor customer satisfaction to identify areas needing improvement.
• Maintain accurate department records to ensure documentation of activities.
• Monitor employee morale and promote a positive teamwork environment.
• Perform duties of staff as required in this hands‑on position.
