General Description

Niagara Falls Culinary Institute needs a part‑time instructor to teach courses in the Culinary Arts program and support the mission of the Hospitality Operations department. The instructor delivers course content for academic classes as assigned by the division chair/AVP of the Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts Division. Position located at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, Niagara Falls, NY.

Responsibilities and evaluation include an in‑person interview, lesson plans, demonstration, and hands‑on skills exam. Remuneration per 5‑week module is $1,008 per lecture hour and $903 per lab hour. Applications accepted continuously; openings as needed.

Typical Work Activities

• Supervise, train and teach students in an applied learning environment.
• Maintain proper inventory controls and class requisitions.
• Participate in curriculum development.
• Use curriculum‑management data to schedule classes based on enrollment trends.
• Track attendance and complete census reports.
• Report on student learning outcomes at semester end.
• Submit grades at semester conclusion.
• Utilize Blackboard and Starfish learning platforms for communication and retention strategies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts.
• One year of full‑time supervisory experience in an upscale restaurant.
• ServSafe certification.

Desirable Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Hospitality or Education.
• Industry certification as CSC, CCC, CEC or CCE through the American Culinary Federation.
• Five to seven years of industry experience as executive chef or sous chef in an upscale restaurant.
• Three years of full‑time teaching experience or part‑time equivalent in a culinary arts program.
• Experience developing and assessing course and program student learning outcomes.
