GEO Corrections & Detentions seeks a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional environment, ensuring security and adherence to medical orders. The role involves direct patient assessment, coordinating chronic disease care, and supervising LPN staff within a tight security framework.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license in the state, with 2+ years of nursing experience, and strong skills in clinical assessment, documentation, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an approved program.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state where the facility is located.
• Two years of direct nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and supervise LPN staff.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical software.

Responsibilities

• Perform a complete physical assessment and medical history on detainees entering the system.
• Assist the physician with sick call and minor procedures.
• Ensure physician orders are followed and medications administered as prescribed.
• Make rounds and document progress notes.
• Monitor symptoms and progress and report problems to management.
• Maintain security while administering medications and dispose of needles properly.
• Prepare regular and special reports; maintain compliance with policies.
• Document detainee contacts and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Coordinate Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling.
• Supervise LPN staff and contribute to performance evaluations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
