Job summary

VOA Michigan (VOAMI) is seeking a dedicated Cook for the Detroit Veterans Housing Program. You will help prepare and serve nutritious meals to veterans in a safe, clean, and welcoming dining environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma/GED, 3–5 years of cooking or food service experience, ServSafe Certification, and knowledge of food preparation, storage, and sanitation practices. A valid Michigan driver’s license is needed, with the ability to lift 25+ pounds and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food preparation, storage, and sanitation practices.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License and insurable driving record.
• Ability to lift 25+ pounds and work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals following menu plans and food safety standards.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation and proper food storage procedures.
• Monitor inventory and assist with food donation pickups.
• Work closely with the Kitchen Manager and Lead Cook.
• Support a positive experience for the veterans we serve.
