Job summary

Sodexo at South Dakota State University is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare, portion, and present a variety of hot and cold items across meal periods and events. You’ll work in a fast-paced kitchen, follow recipes, and maintain safety and cleanliness to deliver high-quality dining experiences.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED, 0–2 years of related food service experience, and the ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service.
• Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving items for consumption.
• Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and plan supplies and equipment accordingly.
• Significant walking or other mobility is required; ability to stand for extended periods.
• Able to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally 50 pounds.
