Job summary

City of Stanton is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to assist with parks programs at multiple sites. You will help plan and implement a variety of activities, supervise youth and adults, and ensure safety during play and events.

The role requires a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays), strong customer service, and ability to work with diverse groups. A valid California driver's license is preferred for driving to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in providing recreation and leisure time services.
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; college coursework in Recreation, Physical Education or related field is desired.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Organize, plan and implement a diversified program including sports, crafts, active and passive games on a park or playground setting.
• Requisition, issue, receive and oversee the use of equipment and materials.
• Ensure safety precautions are observed during free play.
• Care for and maintain equipment and facilities.
• Assist in the preparation and implementation of special events and services.
• Assist with the implementation of the sports program.
• Maintain effective communication and harmonious relationships with the public, participants and associates.
• May be assigned to operate City vehicles transporting seniors; subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing under federal transit regulations (49 CFR Part 655).
• Perform related duties as assigned.
