THE POSITION
Under general supervision, plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates community recreation programs and activities for youth, adults, seniors. Coordinates sports, classes, cultural arts, specialized events and community programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following is a list of typical duties assigned to the City Maintenance Worker. The duties included on this list are examples and are not intended to be all-inclusive or restrictive.
- Coordinates the planning and implementation of community recreation programs, classes, activities, and special events.
- Assists with recreation staff, instructors, coaches, volunteers, and other personnel involved in recreation programs.
- Plans and organizes cultural arts, sports and special interest programs for the community.
- Coordinates program schedules, registrations, staffing, facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Coordinates youth and adult sports programs, including team registration, coaches, practices, games, uniforms, equipment, and officials.
- Schedules games, practices, officials, umpires, referees, and facilities for basketball, soccer, baseball, T-Ball, softball, volleyball, tennis, and other sports programs.
- Plans and coordinates tournaments, competitions, and other special recreation events.
- Coordinates the scheduling and use of Community Center facilities for programs, classes, rentals, meetings, and special events.
- Responds to public questions and provides information about recreation programs, activities, registration, schedules, fees, and facilities.
- Prepares and distributes program information and promotional materials, including brochures, calendars, flyers, posters, letters, and other communications.
- Promotes recreation programs and develops working relationships with schools, community organizations, City departments, and the general public.
- Maintains program records, schedules, participation information, statistics, and other related records.
- Reviews program participation and community needs and recommends new programs or improvements to existing programs.
- Assists with the planning and operation of concession activities, including inventory, staffing, purchasing, and contracting.
- Coordinates the setup and operation of facilities, equipment, and supplies for recreation programs and special events.
- Provides information and assistance to participants, staff, instructors, coaches, and community members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
- Thirty (30) college semester units in Recreation or a closely related field OR
- Three (3) years experience in Recreation Leader IV capacity OR
- Five (5) years experience in Recreation Leader III capacity
Licenses, Certificate and/or Special Requirements
- A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City'svehicle insurance policy.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
