Job summary

The Salvation Army Kroc Center is seeking a part-time Cook/Kitchen Assistant to prepare meals, manage inventories, and supervise volunteers in a kitchen environment. Duties include menu planning, inventory rotation, and ensuring sanitary standards per health regulations.

Role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic computer and payroll system access, and the ability to work Monday–Friday 8:00 A.M.–1:30 P.M. Certification in food safety preferred.

Qualifications

• Flexible and able to work on multiple tasks
• Knowledge of basic cleaning tools and products
• Basic computer skills with online payroll/timekeeping access
• Attention to detail and problem solving
• Cooking experience preferred
• Must pass background checks
• Serve Safe, CPR, and AED training requirements

Responsibilities

• Prepare a weekly/monthly menu based on inventory.
• Manage inventories and rotate stock; place food orders.
• Coordinate daily food prep and serving per Health Dept. standards.
• Maintain sanitary kitchen, dining, and storage areas.
• Ensure proper storage of leftovers and cold/dry goods.
• Prepare statistical and financial reports (gifts in kind).
• Report maintenance needs to supervising officers.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Supervise volunteers.
