Job summary

AbilityFirst in Pasadena, CA is seeking a part-time Community Coach I to support participants with developmental disabilities in daily activities and community integration. The role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00am–1:00pm, with some weekends as needed, focusing on safety, independence, and meaningful engagement.

You will facilitate structured activities, document progress, and collaborate with the team to implement Person-Centered Plans.

Qualifications

• A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
• 12 ECE college units may be required for childcare programs.
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Must be able to provide physical assistance including lifting or transferring participants is required.
• Proficiency in documentation and communication with diverse populations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively supervise participants to ensure health, safety, and engagement.
• Work within designated staffing ratio throughout the program day.
• Implement daily activities and PCP-based goals.
• Create and facilitate engaging, inclusive group activities.
• Collaborate with team to develop monthly activity calendars for groups.
• Complete accurate and timely daily documentation of participant progress.
• Report and document any significant participant concerns immediately.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold participants' dignity and rights.
• Assist participants with personal care including lifting or transferring as needed.
• Supervise community outings and help participants access volunteer opportunities.
• Drive agency vehicles or accompany participants on public transportation as needed with approval.
